Hello! Welcome to my first blog!

I am a mixed media-collage artist that loves Medieval imagery. I incorporate Medieval and/or Renaissance painting images in my work as much as possible. I have a page on etsy and am a big supporter of the etsy community. This is my first experience with blogging and I hope to use this as a place to help me organize my thoughts about ideas and keep a journal of each new piece as I do them. I thought that perhaps with some feedback about my work it would help me grow as an artist. So I invite all to make comments and suggestions and answer inquiries I may have as we go along concerning all types of artistic concerns about publishing, public domain, and copyright dilemmas.

You can see my collage work at my etsy page at mymedievalmind.etsy.com
I also have some pieces in a local shop called Mosaic Garden here in Baton Rouge, LA located in the Circa 1857 complex.

I am working on a new series of Collages I am calling "Tulip Ladies" where I incorporate several images from many sources to create a single, unified figure. My concern about this particular series is I am using some photographs of Tulips in my "Ladies" and of course I plan to give credit to the photographer, but my main concern is do I have to seek and obtain permission first before I can even use them? I am a strong believer in keeping copyright to my work so I respect other artists concerns in this regard. If someone saw my work for example, what would keep them from using my ideas, or images to create their own. This is a very touchy topic and I am almost losing sleep over this issue. I would appreciate your comments and input. Thanks. bambi lyn
